Surrounded by Love: Celebrating 54 Years of Life, Friendship, and Growth

After I celebrated my 54th birthday with my precious friends and family, I couldn't help but reflect on the incredible journey that has brought me to this moment. And what struck me most was the realization that the people I've surrounded myself with over the years – my family, especially my children, and friends (old and new)– have been the greatest gift of all.
As I look back on the different seasons of my life, I'm reminded of people who have walked alongside me, laughed with me, cried with me, and supported me every step of the way. Some friendships have been brief but impactful, while others have stood the test of time. But regardless of their duration, each and every one of these relationships has left an indelible mark on my heart and soul.
But most of all, I'm grateful for my children, who have brought me joy beyond measure. Being a parent has been the most rewarding experience of my life, and I'm so proud of the amazing humans they’ve become as they are raising the most amazing grandchildren a Nana could ask for! Their love, hugs, and smiles have lit up even the darkest days, and I feel blessed to have their presence in my life.
As I've grown older, I've come to appreciate the value of these relationships more and more. They've taught me to love, to forgive (mostly myself), to grow, and to become the best version of me I can be. And I'm humbled to say that I'm still learning, still growing, and still being shaped by the incredible
people in my life.
What also struck me is the realization and the weight of even the relationships that felt negative or challenging. At the time I couldn’t always see it but, they have turned out to be gifts in disguise. The ones that pushed me to grow, to learn, and to become more true to myself. The ones that forced me to confront my own flaws and weaknesses, and to develop the resilience and strength I needed to overcome them. These relationships may not have felt like blessings at the time, but in hindsight, I can see that they were exactly what I needed to become the person I am today.
So, to my husband who has pushed me further than any other, Thank you. To my children and grandchildren who are my everything, I thank you. To my friends, who have brought joy, laughter, and adventure into my life, I thank you. And to everyone who has touched my life in some way, I thank you.
As I look to the future, I'm excited to see what the next chapter holds. I know that life will continue to bring its ups and downs, but I'm confident that the crew I choose will help me face whatever comes my way.
So here's to 54 and counting! Here's to the power of love, family, friendship, and community! And here's to the incredible journey that lies ahead. Cheers!
